Owatonna Steele County Amateur Radio is sponsoring a class for those that are interested in obtaining the entry level
(NO CODE - Technician Class)
operating license.
    What is Required:
  • Eight class sessions, about two hours each.
  • Ham Radio License Manual
    Study guide ($25).
  • Discipline to read the study materials.
  • License exam fee ($15).
  • Correctly answer 26 of 35 multiple choice questions.
    When:
  • Tuesday & Thursday nights
  • 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • 09-Feb through 04-Mar

  • 11-Jan
    The Elmer Session has been scheduled for 18-Mar (Thursday) at 7:00 PM. The Elmer Session is open to anyone with a question or problem relating to Amateur Radio.
  • 10-Jan
    Individuals that participate in the OSCAR Technician Class and pass the exam will be awarded an OSCAR membership for the balance of 2010.
  • 09-Jan
    The Ham Radio License Manual is available from the ARRL. The cost is $24.95 plus $10.50 S&H. OSCAR is offering the manuals for $20, including S&H. Manuals must be ordered and paid in advance by 25-Jan to qualify. The manuals will be available at the 09-Feb class session. After 25-Jan, any manuals ordered through OSCAR will be $25 (including S&H), but will not be available until the 16-Feb class session.
  • 07-Jan
    There is lots of training events scheduled at the Fire Station. In general, the OSCAR Technician Class will be in the meeting room on the first floor. On 11-Feb and 16-Feb, however, class will meet on the third floor. Use the stairs or elevator.
    Be sure you do not to enter the private quarters for the fire fighters on the second floor.
